Saguenay Walks 13.7 km. Ascending 522 m
|
With some work to do today, we just had a couple of walks and - quite surprisingly - found
nice places to get to straight from the hotel!

In the morning we walked out to Parc de la Riviere
du Moulin and walked along snow-shoe trails down to the river and to a little beach. It was a nice
walk with a few new species. We saw a chipmunk (but still no squirrels yet - very strange), canada geese and
an american robin. These birds are bigger with a less-red chest than the robins we are used to
in Europe, but we always seem to be followed by one when we are walking. Becaue we see him a lot we have wondered whether
this is our "assigned" robin who follows us around Canada, but then he wouldn't have had much to
do for the past few months!

In the evening we wanted to get a photo of the steep slope up to the traffic lights we stopped
at yesterday and Hild found a nice walk along Riviere aux Rats. This is just a stream really, but
in a steep valley with culverts under a few roads it was a lot of up and down with plenty of
little bridges and board-walks. As you may have noticed, although we didn't walk all that
far today, we ascended over 500m - in lots of short climbs and, yes, Hild found some stairs!

And we did get to the lights we had to stop at. Now that is a hill start - I wonder if learner
drivers take their test here in Saguenay?
