Sydney - Truro 321.2 km. 3:51 hours. Elevation maximum 237 metres)

We left Sydney this morning to drive to Truro, but not before we had a look around
Sydney. Then it was down to the little Little Narrows ferry again ('cos we thought
it was cute) and then we left Cape Breton Island and whizzed through Nova Scotia to
Truro as the Trans Canada Highway (NS104 at this point) is a nice road.

Hild had found one of her "largest" things in Sydney (a big Fiddle) and walking along
the boardwalk to see it at the cruise ship terminal was a fun walk. We had missed that
Sydney was a pretty important harbour in its own right - we had thought it was all
over in North Sydney where the ferry from Newfoundland had docked. It was early to
have many boats, but there was a big cruise ship docked and lots of passengers disembarking
to have a look around. Sydney was an important port for North Atlantic convoys in the
Second World War so there were monuments to the sailors who lost their lives during
this time as well.

The other thing we had to see in Sydney was the office handling our permanent residency
card renewal. Our application is in this building somewhere, waiting to be opened,
if you believe the status update we have. There were some nice souvenir shops as
well and Hild got some things to send, so we then stopped at a Tim's while she wrote
cards and then at a Canada Post office in a Shoppers Drug Mart. While Hild was doing
the mailing, Rob found some chocolate-covered jujubes - which they don't have all the
time so he got four bags!

We had driven the roads around Bras d'Or a couple of times now, but we really liked
the Little Narrows ferry so we went that way to use it again - and this time take
some photos!

Once we got to Truro, Hild found out that the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie was
still showing in the local Cineplex. This had opened ofter we had left Ottawa, but
we hadn't had a chance to see it and now - 5 weeks later - it had already gone from
most places. I think Hild had been checking everywhere so when she found a showing
in Truro at 6.20, she booked tickets straight away. Well, it turns out we didn't
really need to book - as the pictures above showed. By now, clearly everyone who
was going to see the movie had already done so - apart from us! We loved it and
hadn't seen any spoilers so it was a great night out.
