Burnham-on-Sea - Queensferry 653.9 km (Hild 306 km in yellow, Rob 347.9 km in blue) . 7:44 hours.
|
We spent the night before packing all our things into Percy. The plan
was to just wake up early and leave at 6 am. In the end we left at 6:03.
Even before we left, our exploring party suffered the first injury:
Gromit lost an ear in a camera-related accident
(Hild dropped her phone on his head!). We hope this is the first and last
physical injury.

By leaving early we beat the morning rush hour in Bristol. We zoomed up
the M5 and didn't stop until we got to Strensham service area. Time for
breakfast and a cup of tea.
|
|
The dashboard-team of Wallace, Gromit, Shaun, and Percy are on constant
lookout for fun things to comment on. We all had a giggle about how
Norwegian the word "Knutsford" is. Not fun enough to stop.

|
Again - no time to stop, we just snapped a photo when we crossed the
Manchester Ship Canal. The River Mersey is hidden amongst the trees.

We wanted to take the scenic route to Edinburgh rather than
more motorways. Since breakfast was late, we decided to have late lunch in Moffat just
off the A74(M).
After having a sandwich and cup of tea in the back of Percy, we went for a
walk in Station Park. It is a nice park, but the water level in the park was
very low. Even the little ducklings appeared to be
wading rather than swimming in what little water remained.
All boating activities were also put on hold - including the paddle
boats shaped like swans...

|
We spotted this nice carved wood memorial for a local person called
Simon Kerr (The Kerdo). There was a stork at the top above two fish,
one eel, a frog and a toad.
|
|
As we arrived in Edinburgh, we stopped by Costco to fill up with diesel.
The price is lower than in other petrol stations, and much lower than
at motorway service areas.
We are staying at the same motel where we stayed last time in Queensferry
west of Edinburgh. After checking in and unpacking our stuff, we wandered
over to the local Tesco supermarket to stock up on groceries. Got to get
back into the routine of work and photos/web page writing in the evenings.
It feels good to be back on the road again!
