We were very much looking forward to visiting Gina, Bjørnar, and Frøya today.
The plan was to leave from Valle at 8 am, and we successfully drove off at
8:01 am. Norwegian efficiency - or one minute behind schedule.
The drive from Valle to Fevik was uneventful - happily.
We did stop to fill with petrol and buy raisin buns, but we
ate them so quickly that there is no photographic evidence...
Furthermore, Hild's poor camera work couldn't even catch a photo of a tractor we overtook.
She got a blurry photo of its back wheel. The plan had been to get a photo
of the farm equipment on the back: a hay turning rake. See, it was
an uneventful drive!
We stopped by Bjørnar's office at Greenstat. It was fun to see so many solar
panels up close and personal
When we arrived at their house, we could see how much progress
they have made in installing their solar panels. Nice!
We were so excited to meet Frøya in person for the first time.
She is so cute and keeps company with all her cuddly friends:
various characters from Mummitrollet including Lille My, Paddington Bear
and a Llama from Peru.
Frøya pulls all the best faces like she is already telling jokes!
No wonder she is a happy baby with such fun parents. Gina has identified
with Lille My (character from Mummitrollet) for many years already. Her mother,
Solfrid, has painted this lovely rendition of Lille My. Now Solfrid has also
painted Snusmumrikken (another Mummitrollet character) for Bjørnar. Such fun!
After a lovely lunch with Gina's homemade bread, we went for a walk to the beach.
Gina and Bjørnar wanted to go for a swim, so we held them to it. Gina, who is
a human thermometer, says the temperature near the beach was 16 Celsius but
further out where they went it was 12 Celsius!
We wonder if Kristin and Alvaro think that the quality of the sand
can measure up to Florida beaches.
The old wimps: Rob, Adelheid and Hild decided to paddle rather than
swim like the youngsters... Rob enjoyed his skolebrød (custard bun) while
drying his feet off in the sun.
Back at their home we got a tour of the garage which has been converted
to their very own crossfit gym. Very energetic! Also got a lesson in what
a "Bulgarian Lunge" is. Bjørnar demonstrated and we knew instantly that
we should stick to normal lunge - or lunch!?
The gym also includes a very organized and well-stocked tool wall.
We were particularly taken by the kissing hammers!
We were treated to delicious lasagne dinner and
white brownie cake and chocolates for afters. Sorry for the lack of photos!
Having Villa "Champagne Brus" soft drink brought many memories
back to Rob and Hild. We also tried Gina's favourite new flavour of
soft drink: Solo with pineapple and grapefruit flavour. Fancy!
During our wide-ranging discussions, Rob mentioned that he started
developing a bald spot when he got his first mortgage. So Gina
had to check Bjørnar.... oh-oh!!
Sadly it was time to drive back to Valle. Frøya was now fast asleep but we
snapped some more photos anyway.
