Nanaimo (Billable hours, Bowen park, and Burrito dinner)
|
A work day today - Rob spent almost 5 hours on Google Meet, Microsoft
Teams and Skype calls while Hild was using the big screen TV to
build a biiiig model in Excel. Sort of a normal work day!
We did get out for a walk after Robs meetings however (well, he did
start at 6.45 am!) and walked through Nanaimo to Bowen Park - a nice
park around the Millstone river here in Nanaimo. It finished at the
shop to buy more milk(!) and then it was back to work for Hild, while
Rob had a nap....

During our walk we went up to see the waterfall
and also found some nice fountains. The vegetation was very lush also included
several meadows with tiny flowers and an area with big rhododendrons.

|
The park had many information posters, and there were activities for all:
frisbee golf, swimming, lawn bowling, picnic, hiking, and more.

We had seen a fun place to eat dinner on a boat in the harbour so
when we were in need of food we walked down to the harbour and had
some nice Mexican food. Burrito with ice tea and enchilada with
margarita.

We needed to walk that off before bedtime,
so we went along the harbour and sea-front where there was plenty
going on. People walking doggies, fishing for crabs off the pier,
playing baskeball - and one group playing music and dancing
salsa! Nice to see people "oot and aboot". Even nicer to see two
otters playing in the water!
We figured we had to test the local cuisine a bit more - and purhased
a Naniamo bar to have with our tea when we got home. Yummy - but
quite sweet so half a piece each is enough. The is a place outside
the hotel that advertises deep-fried Nanaimo bars and Rob thinks we
have to try this - for scientifid reasons, but maybe that is for a
day when we have walked a lot first!
