Rob-n-Hild, oot and aboot eh? Sorry - 2022

Back to Rob and Hild's pages
The day came: We left Ottawa Monday 2nd May at 6 am. We were so excited.
We had planned this trip for many years, and we could do a long trip because of the lack of 3 P-s:
Pets, Plants, and Progeny!

To prevent us from having all these fun experiences and forgetting them (remember how old we are!),
we have filed our photos and stories as we travelled across Canada.
You may also find it a fun read if you are bored one day.
By the way, sorry to those Canadians who feel offended by 'oot and aboot'.
Not everyone says that, some do, and as Hild's mum points out "that's how we say it in Shetland too"!

Back home: After 55 days, we arrived back home in Ottawa on Saturday 25th June at 3:08 pm. As by magic, Norah sent a welcome-home email which arrived at 3:10 pm! Fantastic timing. We felt
good about being home again - unpacking, doing laundry, washing Mary Jane. Oddly enough, the largest change was being able to sit in any number of chairs in
our apartment compared to a car seat, a hotel chair, or hotel bed. Best of all - we are back at our desks and in our office chairs! Back to normal, if there is such a thing...

.... and of course, Mary Jane who carried us all the way!

Some of our key tools for the trip:
 * Dinky-Pad: the iPad with map for navigation, booking hotels, and finding trivia about places great and small
 * Max2: the hand-held GPS to track our route and generate fun/nerdy maps and statistics
 * Snusmumrikken (Snus for short): the mobile hotspot to bring internet wherever we go
