Day 2
Laverton - Giles Met Station

All roads are open (sign outside Laverton).

Well, rather than make a new message, I'm adding this to the first one (actually Hild made the recipient list and I can't do it 'cos I'm only a little Landcruiser). We made it to Warakurna Roadhouse which is just by Giles Met Station. This is further than we planned, but we got an early start again and didn't stop at all In Warburton 'cos it was closed for stocktaking! Well, the Roadhouse was closed so we never bothered with the rest. It seems like the thing just now - this place is closed tomorrow. Must be for the end of year or something.
So, today was all gravel. No sealed road after the first 5-6 k. But pretty good for all that. There were only a few places where the corrugations were a bit much - and I (Lionel) am built for exactly this kind of stuff. Was a bit muddy in places too, and Rob managed to find a puddle to splash me in, so my red nose is a bit muddy now. But there was only a very little bit of rain early on and since about 10 am it has been lovely sunshine.

We are now in central time - so 1.5 hours ahead, but it doesn't really mean much to us 'cos we are in holiday mode and just getting up when we feel like (which for some reason appears to be before the sun gets up - very strange!
Well, speaking of which, if I don't get my beauty sleep, I won't look my best for Uluru tomorrow so I'm off to bed.
Night, night.
