I Miss Metro - demolition and construction since March 2020

On the 2nd of March 2020 they started demolishing our favourite supermarket, Metro.
We miss having a supermarket across the road from us, and we look forward to the condo construction being complete,
with return of (fingers crossed) a shiny new Metro.

Since demolition began, we have taken a picture almost daily from our balcony. As shown in the video below, there was a tedious and very boring break between 13th April and 5th of May due to COVID-19. We are happy to include a video of the first days of blasting around the 13th of August. It has been hard to get much work done (especially for Rob who has his desk by the window) because it is fascinating watching the work and skill involved. There have been many interesting days to make up for the days with jackhammering! Since then it has been all about the concrete pouring and we can't but love the Ride-on Power Trowel - much like bumper-cars... Lately the building has grown above ground and we get a closer view of all the goings-on. We are adding more slideshows/videos as we go along. Click the links below to enjoy the slideshows/videos. |
