After a hectic week in Orlando we thought: Why not go visit Kristin and Alvaro in Delray Beach?
It had been 2.5 years since the last time! Shocking and about time.

Crepes and Karaoke:
As soon as we arrived at Kristin and Alvaro's there were crepes to be made and enjoyed. The evening was rounded
off with a round of karaoke. Fun fun fun.

At the movies:
We went to a very fancy movie theatre in Delray Beach called iPic. Food and drink and unlimited popcorn served
at your very comfortable seat. They also gave us blankets to keep us warm in the airconditioned cinema.
We were there alone so very quick service. We watched
the film "Uncut Gems" which was good but a bit depressing because all the characters were
miserable or just had miserable lives. Good performance from Adam Sandler, but be ready for all
the swearing and quite loud background music. We are getting old and miss subtitles to
understand the dialogue!

Hanging out:
We found these fun hanging chairs at the iPic movie theatre - and then we
went home and acted our age: playing Mahjong...
|
|
Wakodahatchee Wetlands:
We returned to Wakodahatchee because we love walking around there watching birds, turtles, and sometimes
alligators. Competely unplanned we ended up all dressed in green!
|
|
This time there was mainly birds in Wakodahatchee Wetlands -
although many different kinds of herons, egrets, storks, and several of these
purple yellow-legged gallinules.

They warned us about dodgy wasps but it probably was a bit too cold for them (phew).
The turtles somehow do not show up on the photos, but that may be because we had phone-cameras unlike
the professional photographers that were there with their HUGE lenses.

|
Bayside Marketplace: We went to enjoy a walk around Miami's Bayside Marketplace.
It was also a great opportunity for a coffee break as well as lunch.
|
|
Vizcaya Museum: After Bayside we drove further south to the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.
This is a fascinating property originally bought, designed and built by James Deering in 1910.
The gardens were finished in 1923 and Deering opened it up to the public. Deering died in 1925 and the
property was opened up as a museum after it was sold to Miami-Date County in 1955.

Theatre Garden at Vizcaya: Apparently no play has ever been performed in
the Theatre Garden so we had to do something about that. Photos show Rob performing Marc Antony's speech from
Julius Ceasar by Shakespeare:
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.
...
Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral.
He was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Brutus says he was ambitious;
And Brutus is an honourable man.

Gardens at Vizcaya: More beautiful spots in the garden - although Rob seems to have
been caught in some of the mangrove trees.
|
|
|
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens: This is a beautiful garden
to walk around and be all relaxed
and zen about life. The ponds hold lots of coi fish, turtles and lizzards.

Bonzai Garden: There were several bonzai trees including
a maple tree in autumn colours!

All our other fun was not captured on camera including morning walks, morning swims,
shopping, and some work. Such a wonderful time all in all.
