Rob and Hild's "bit of the web"

When you meet a bear on the freeway in Upstate New York!!!

or

But4 meets Yogi the Bear.

But4 meets Yogi the Bear. But4 meets Yogi the Bear. But4 meets Yogi the Bear.
But4 meets Yogi the Bear.

For those who didn't know, our car was named "But for" because of the legal term: "But for Hild's job last year we wouldn't have had this car"... But4 was a Saturn SL1 from 1997. He did very well during the 12 months we had him. We took the photos above at the tow-truck place in Painted Post where we left him that night back in July. Compared to some of the other retired vehicles he didn't look too bad! The picture on the right shows that But4 met Yogi with enough of a bang to set off the airbags... All we can say is that all four of us (Rob, Hild the driver, Yogi and But4) were very confused when it all came to a halt! While Rob and Hild were unscathed, the situation was very different for But4 (written off) and Yogi (put down).

... well ...Yogi the Bear is now pushing up the daisies...
but his name lives on.

Meet "But4 Yogi" - or "Yogi" for short!

Rob and But4 Yogi. Hild and But4 Yogi. Hild putting Rob's bike on But4 Yogi.

Yogi is a 1999 Toyota Corolla. Compared to But4 who was very basic, Yogi has all mod cons such as airconditioning, electric windows, electric mirrors, cruise control and ABS breaks. As in But4 we did make sure that he has manual transmission because we like the feel of control on the snowy/icy roads and the good fuel economy (in spite of fuel being ridiculously cheap in this country). It is also important that the back seats can be folded down to fit our skis in the back. Rob is slightly worried about how shiny Yogi was when we picked him up - cleaning and polishing cars is not his (nor Hild's) favourite pastime.
